Witness: The Hitter. Richard Brown Lethem, 1988.
[MEDIA TYPE — Acrylic on canvas?]. 42″x64″.
American painter Richard Brown Lethem (b. 1932) has freely mixed the figurative with the abstract over his career, unwilling to align himself to any one school or style. His work is energetic and spontaneous, bold and open to conflicting habitats of bright and happy, dark and dangerous. Lethem studies at the Kansas City Art Institute and Columbia University, and received a Fulbright Fellowship for study at l’Académie de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris. He continues his work in Bath, Maine.
